Extremely Rare Led Zeppelin Record Up for Auction

zeppelin-collectables-coverA Led Zeppelin vinyl record – one of only a few of its kind in existence – is up for auction, Uncut reports.

The record, titled Led Zeppelin – Past, Present and Future, is a test pressing of a 1979 interview with Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.  The test copy was pressed by Swan Song Records but the album was never put into circulation. The front cover of the jacket reads “Promotional Use Only, Not For Sale” and the label on the vinyl reads “Test Pressing.”

A letter from Atlantic Records that accompanies the record, dated 1993, confirms that the album was never issued and the remainder of the printed record jackets were destroyed.

The book “Then As It Was: Led Zeppelin at Knebworth 1979, 30 Years Gone”, by Zeppelin expert Dave Lewis, refers to this album as “one of the rarest Zeppelin collectibles.” The author also values the set at about $8,850.00 (in 2009).

The starting bid for this item is $6,000.00. The auction runs through Sunday, April 26th at 3pm.
