Jakob Dylan, Dhani Harrison, The Head and the Heart, The Lumineers, Taj Mahal and The Shelters are the latest artists to be announced as performers for the 2017 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute in honor of Tom Petty. The event will take place February 10th at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The MusiCares Person of the Year title celebrates Petty’s extraordinary creative accomplishments and significant charitable work. Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute—now in its 27th year—provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical, and personal need.
The event already boasts a lineup that includes previously announced Jackson Browne, Jeff Lynne, Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, The Bangles, Gary Clark Jr, the Foo Fighters, Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen, Norah Jones, Elle King, Randy Newman, Regina Spektor, George Strait and Lucinda Williams. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will close the show and producer T Bone Burnett will serve as musical director for the concert.
Past MusiCares Person of the Year honorees include: Bono, Phil Collins, David Crosby, Bob Dylan, Don Henley, Billy Joel, Elton John, Carole King, Paul McCartney, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, James Taylor, Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young, among others.
