Paul McCartney‘s Live Kisses will air on PBS’s Great Performances tomorrow, Friday, September 7 at 9pm. The provocatively titled show is actually a live performance of McCartney’s recent collection of pop standards, titled Kisses On The Bottom and was recorded at Capitol Studios on February 9, 2012 – the same day that the Beatles legend received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Joining McCartney in the studio for the Live Kisses performance were Grammy-winner producer Tommy LiPuma and Al Schmitt in the control room, musical director Diana Krall on piano along with musicians John Clayton, Karriem Riggins, John Pizzarelli, Anthony Wilson, Mike Mainieri and conductor Alan Broadbent. The songs are interspersed with exclusive interview segments with Kisses On The Bottom collaborators Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Diana Krall, Tommy LiPuma and of course McCartney himself and offer insight into the conception and creation of the album.
