The inflatable pig that was featured on the cover of Pink Floyd’s 1977 album Animals was almost re-homed at auction next month after the company that created the oversized helium balloon cleared out their warehouse and listed a number of items for sale with Durrants Auctioneers.
“Algie,”as she’s been nicknamed, was originally included on the list of items going up for auction, but was quickly removed this past week.
According to Rob Harries, owner of Air Artists and creator of Algie, the pig will instead be returned to Pink Floyd’s management.
Harries has been making balloons for more than 40 years. In addition to Pink Floyd, his clients have included AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Bon Jovi.
