the-man-who-fell-to-earth-poster-david-bowe-nicolas-roeg-cult-club-noscale The soundtrack to the motion picture The Man Who Fell To Earth is finally set to be released, 40 years after the film hit theaters. The 1976 sci-fi starred David Bowie as an alien who comes to earth in search of water for his home planet. The soundtrack was never released due to the master tapes being misplaced.

Now that the tapes have been uncovered, the soundtrack will be released on CD on September 9th and as a deluxe vinyl edition on November 18th. The deluxe vinyl edition also includes a 48-page hardcover book.

Although Bowie starred in the film, he did not contribute any music to the film’s soundtrack. It features original compositions by Japanese prog-rock musician Stomu Yamash’ta as well as John Philips (The Mamas and The Papas).
