Keith Richards Announces Solo Album ‘Crosseyed Heart’

The Rolling Stones haven’t finished their Zip Code tour yet, but guitarist Keith Richards is already ramping up for his next project: a solo LP titled Crosseyed Heart, due out September 18th.

The album’s first single, “Trouble” will be released July 17th.

Richards collaborated on the solo LP with drummer Steve Jordan who co-wrote and co-produced the majority of the album. Guitarist Waddy Wachtel and Rolling Stones backup singer Bernard Fowler are also featured on the release, while special guests include Norah Jones, Spooner Oldham, Larry Campbell and Aaron Neville. Two tracks featured the late Rolling Stones saxophonist Bobby Keys.

Although no solo tour dates have been announced, Richards told Rolling Stone back in April that “it’s possible.”

But while Richards will be focused on his solo project for the remainder of the year, that doesn’t mean new material isn’t in the works for the Stones.

“We’re talking about doing some recording after this tour, but there’s nothing definite. We just threw out the idea. I’d like to get the boys back in the studio again, yeah. Anything can happen,” says Richards.
