The end is near. Only one sponge can save the day. But he’s going to need help from some of the greatest songwriters in rock and pop music history.
David Bowie and Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are just a few of the artists who have signed on to provide original music for the new SpongeBob SquarePants production which will debut on Broadway in 2016.
The musical, based on the Nickelodeon cartoon, will also feature music by Cyndi Lauper, The Flaming Lips, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, TI, Dirty Projectors, and They Might Be Giants.
SpongeBob Squarepants will premiere in Chicago on June 7th for a limited engagement before heading to New York. The show has not yet been cast.
