Among the home recordings and never-before-heard audio that make up the soundtrack to Montage of Heck – the authorized Kurt Cobain documentary that makes its television premiere on May 4th – is a chilling version of the Beatles’ “And I Love Her,” performed by the Nirvana frontman and unearthed by doc director Brett Morgen.

The home recording of the Paul McCartney penned tune, which features Cobain’s vocal and acoustic guitar, was a surprising find, considering Cobain once expressed dislike for McCartney.

“Nobody in Kurt’s life – not his management, wife, bandmates – had ever heard his Beatles thing,” Morgen told Rolling Stone. “How’s that for shattering the myth?”, he asked.
