Paul McCartney Writes Music for New Video Game

Paul McCartney has provided the musical score for a new video game titled Destiny.

The game, which comes from game creators Bungie and Activision, is an online multi-player first-person shooting game.

McCartney began working on the score in 2010 along with Mike Salvatori and Marty O’Donnell – Bungie’s in-house composer. O’Donnell told Edge magazine last year that McCartney brought out his “old tape-loop machine” during the process.

“He said the last time he used it was on Sgt. Pepper. So he sent me an entire session where he was playing around with all these tape-loops,” O’Donnell continued. We were just thrilled. That [was] the same machine that was on Revolver.”

McCartney also contributed to the theme song for the game, which was recorded by a 120-person orchestra led by Giles Martin (son of former Beatles producer George Martin). The theme song will be released as a single coinciding with the game’s release on September 9th. You can hear a clip of it below.
