Queen To Release Live Album from the Archives

queen-logoQueen will release a ‘new’ live album from the archives this September.

Live At The Rainbow ’74 was recorded 40 years ago, on March 31, 1974 at the Rainbow Theatre in London. Although the live recording was intended to be released as the band’s third album, the band ended up releasing Sheer Heart Attack instead and Live At The Rainbow ’74 has been shelved ever since.

Disc Two of Live At The Rainbow ’74 features highlights from the band’s two shows, also at the Rainbow, in November 1974.

The archived live album will hit shelves September 8th. It is one of two Queen albums to be released this year; Brian May announced last month during an interview with the BBC that the band will also release an album of tracks sung by Freddie Mercury before he died. May said the album features material that “no one in the world has ever heard.”

Queen kicks off a North American tour with Adam Lambert this week before heading to Australia at the end of August.
