Seattle Police have said they are reviewing evidence in the death investigation of former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, sparking reports Thursday that the case had been re-opened.
Seattle Police spokesperson Renee Witt has confirmed that a cold case detective is, in fact, looking at old files, but the case is not being re-opened.
Cobain was found dead on April 8th, 1994 of a gunshot wound to the head. A medical examiner determined that he had died three days earlier, ruling the death as a suicide. Drugs were found in Cobain’s bloodstream, and a suicide note was discovered at the scene.
According to Witt, the evidence and findings of the case are being reviewed in preparation for the 20th Anniversary of Cobain’s death.
