Springsteen Steps Onto The Obama Campaign Trail

Bruce Springsteen is stepping back onto the campaign trail tomorrow.  The Boss, a longtime supporter of President Obama and Vice President Biden, had previously stated that he would stay out of the 2012 election but with the presidential race tightening, he has decided to step up his public support.  He will be making two appearances on behalf of the President tomorrow – Thur. Oct. 18 – one in the Parma, OH area and one in Ames, IA.  Both appearances are free and opening to the public with tickets being distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting Oct. 16 at 10:00am through local Obama For America offices.

“Bruce Springsteen’s values echo what the President and Vice President stand for: hard work, fairness, integrity,” said Jim Messina, the Obama-Biden campaign manager.  “His appearances will help with our get out the vote effort in these critical swing states and we are thrilled with his ongoing support.”

Former President Bill Clinton will join Springsteen onstage at the Cuyahoga Community College, West Campus in Parma, OH.  The doors will open at 11:00am ET.  Springsteen will then travel to Ames, IA for the second event of the day, which will take place at the Hilton Coliseum beginning at 1:00pm CT.

Springsteen was an active supporter of the Democrats in both the 2004 and 2008 elections as well as performing at Obama’s inauguration.  At a 2004 campaign rally in Madison, WI, Springsteen drew an crowd of 80,000 people and is credited with helping Kerry win the state.
