Mike Porcaro, longtime bass player for Toto, died Sunday at the age of 59.

The announcement was made by Porcaro’s brother and Toto keyboardist, Steve, via Facebook.

“Our brother Mike passed away peacefully in his sleep at 12:04 AM last night at home surrounded by his family. Rest in peace, my brother,” reads his post.

Mike Porcaro joined Toto in 1982, after the departure of David Hungate and shortly after the release of TOTO IV. He stopped touring with the band in 2007, and in 2010 it was announced that he was suffering from Amyotrphic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In 2012 it was revealed that Porcaro was in a wheelchair.

On Twitter, Toto guitarist Steve Lukather posted, “My brother Mike Porcaro is now at peace. I will miss him more than I could ever put into words. My deepest love to the family. God Bless.”

Toto’s new record, TOTO XIV is due out on March 24th.
