After much speculation and anticipation Led Zeppelin has officially announced the release of their 2007 one-night-only reunion concert! Titled Celebration Day, the concert will make its big screen debut on October 17th at over 1500 cinemas worldwide. Celebration Day will also be released on “multiple audio and video formats” on November 19th – the press release does not specify which formats, be it CD, DVD, Blu-ray etc., just that details will be announced soon.
The announcement today came at the conclusion of a five day countdown that began on their facebook page this past weekend and had many fans hoping that the legendary rockers would be announcing a new studio album or tour. However, Plant has made it clear over the years that he has no interest in touring with Zeppelin again. In a 2011 interview with Rolling Stone he spoke of the one night show and the possibility for future collaborations. “It was an amazing evening. The preparations for it were fraught and intense, but the last rehearsal was really, really good, for all that it represented and all that we were trying to capture. But I’ve gone so far somewhere else that almost I can’t relate to it.” When asked about any possible future reunions, Plant made his position clear. “I see there’s some kind of remit about the Tibetan Hook of the Paid that we have to keep going back to. It’s a bit of a pain in the pisser, to be honest. Who cares? I know people care, but think about it from my angle. Soon I’m going to need help crossing the street.”
Tickets for the October 17th screening go on sale today and can be purchased through Led Zeppelin’s official website.
