The Beach Boys‘ 50th Anniversary tour may be winding down but it doesn’t appear that the group is ready quit.
On Tuesday evening, the Boys attended a gathering at the Los Angeles’ Grammy Museum to launch a new exhibit chronicling the band’s history. They also treated the crowd to a stunning acoustic performance that included their timeless hits “Surfer Girl”, “California Girls”, “I Get Around” and “Help Me, Rhonda” – which Brian Wilson introduced by saying, I’m in the mood to hear Al Jardine sing.”
The fivesome then took part in a Q&A session, which touched on a variety of subjects, covering everything from the band’s inception to whether or not their solo projects would get in the way of new Beach Boys music – to which Al Jardine responded, “The Beach Boys is the real deal. I’m not interested in that other stuff.” Brian Wilson followed up with, “I wouldn’t mind getting together with Mike [Love] and the guys and making an exciting rock and roll album.” He then added, “I’m sure by early next year we’ll be ready to rock.”
