Watch Aerosmith, The Roots and Jimmy Fallon Perform ‘Walk This Way’

Aerosmith teamed up with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots to perform a unique rendition of their 1975 hit song “Walk This Way” for the ever-popular and always entertaining ‘Classroom Instruments’ segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. One can’t help but smile as these professional musicians rock out on instruments that might be found in a kindergarten classroom.  At the same time it still has the same raucous energy that we expect from Aerosmith…just in a Fisher Price Drum kind of way. Though even the ukulele looks cool in the expert hands of Joe Perry.

Check out the video below.

Aerosmith recently announced that they would be celebrating their 50th Anniversary with and 18 show residency at the Park MGM Hotel and Casino starting on April 6, 2019. “We want to bring a show in there we really can’t do when on the road, on a regular tour,” Perry said. “So we want to bring a show that still has Aerosmith and all the guts of Aerosmith, but has a whole other element to it that we haven’t been able to do before.”

He adds, “Just downsizing our live show, just playing in a smaller place. We want to do something different. We’re in the middle of the production now. What we’re talking about is having an experience that you wouldn’t be able to see on a regular Aerosmith tour.”

Perry has also commented recently on the possibility of a new Aerosmith album. This would be the first new album since their 2012 release Music From Another Dimension!

Everybody’s vibe is we’d like to have some new material, but we’ve got so many songs that we haven’t played in so long, and other songs that we’ve never played, so there are a lot of things to come into consideration when you talk about a new record,” the guitarist explained. “Sometimes I think about, ‘What’s the point?’ We’ve got all these songs that we’ve already written that have been on these albums that we’d love to play that no one’s ever heard before. And I certainly love recording, and I could see it happening.”

Clearly Perry does enjoying spending time in the studio.  Earlier this year while Aerosmith was on hiatus he released a his sixth solo project titled Sweetzerland Manifesto.
