Three days after collapsing backstage following his guest performance with Billy Joel on Saturday night, Joe Perry is speaking out on his health status.
“Doing well, thanks for all the love and support!” Perry posted on his official Twitter account Tuesday afternoon.
The Aerosmith guitarist was experiencing shortness of breath after leaving the stage at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. Paramedics reportedly gave him oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airways before taking him out of the venue on a stretcher. Perry was then taken to hospital.
According to TMZ, who first reported the incident, Perry has been experiencing breathing issues for weeks, apparently stemming from congestion in his lungs.
In July of 2016, Perry collapsed during a Hollywood Vampires show in Brooklyn. The incident caused the band to cancel their appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert the following night.
Joe Perry is scheduled for a run of solo dates later this month in support of his latest solo album, Sweetzerland Manifesto.
Last week he released a video for his new single “Quake”. Watch it here >
