Bohemian Rhapsody Takes Home 2 Golden Globe Awards

Box office record breaker Bohemian Rhapsody took home two awards at Sunday night’s Golden Globes ceremony, snagging wins in major categories.

While Rami Malek’s win for Best Actor in a Drama was somewhat expected, the Queen biopic caused a bit of an upset by taking home the award for Best Motion Picture Drama. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s A Star is Born was favored to win.

Bohemian Rhapsody received mix reviews upon its November release but quickly went on to become the top-grossing music biopic of all time. It raked in over $600 Million at the box office – three times more than the previous record holder, Straight Outta Compton.

“Thank you to Freddie Mercury for giving me the joy of a lifetime,” Malek said in his acceptance speech Sunday night. “I love you, you beautiful man.”

He also thanked Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, who were on hand for the evening.

After the ceremony, Malek told the press the euphoric feeling he felt accepting the award matched the feeling of performing on stage for the film’s Live Aid recreation.

Bohemian Rhapsody will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 12th and digitally on January 22.
