40 years after AC/DC’s first gig, the band has finally made it into the Top Ten singles in Britain with the help of a fan-led Facebook campaign.
“Highway to Hell,” originally released in 1979, reached number 4 on the British singles chart this week – just in time for New Years Eve – the band’s 40th Anniversary. It is the band’s first top ten single in the UK.
A Facebook page dedicated to the cause was organized by the same group which previously helped push Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing In the Name Of” to number 1 in 2009. The Facebook page has more than 171,000 likes.
