Metallica is preparing to release an extensive number of live albums, 27 in total, by the end of the year. Though the band has been offering high-quality recordings of their live concerts as digital downloads via LiveMetallica.com for years, they are celebrating the anniversary of the site by offering both CD and LPs of every gig the band played in 2014.
The albums will be released in groups of 3 each Monday through the rest of the year. The live recordings will be available at LiveMetallica.com in the order the shows were played in.
A box set consisting of all 27 concerts will be available in December. Additionally, four of the live recordings will be made available in limited edition 180-gram vinyl format and released in early 2015. Fans can vote here on which four concerts will get the special treatment.
