Eric Clapton is set to perform two shows at Madison Square Garden this weekend, but the New York Rangers’ playoff run could force a postponement.
The Rangers won their first series against the Penguins this week and now face the Washington Capitals in the second round. The NHL has yet to release the schedule for round 2, however games are typically held a day apart, meaning the Rangers will likely be hosting the Capitals on either Friday or Saturday night, creating a conflict with one of Clapton’s performances.
If a conflict does result, the postponed Clapton show will take place Sunday instead.
The two MSG shows were announced in March, in celebration of Clapton’s 70th birthday. This year marks the 46th year since Clapton and Cream opened the “new” MSG in 1968.
Clapton’s new retrospective box set, Forever Man is available now on iTunes and Amazon.
