When Phil Collins released his last album of new material in 2002, he supported it with a tour he appropriately titled the First Farewell Tour.  Despite a brief Genesis reunion tour and a cover album of Motown classics in 2010, things were relatively quiet on the music front through those years as Collins struggled with personal issues including a divorce, and various health issues.

But according to a new interview with Rolling Stone, Collins is ready to make a professional comeback.

“I’m no longer officially retired. The horse is out of the stable and I’m raring to go,” says Collins. He is currently moving a recording studio into his Miami home and plans to begin working on a new album before the end of the year.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also says that he will tour in support of the album, though he’s not sure whether the tour will come before or after the release.

Collins officially went into retirement in 2011 in order to focus on his family and bring up his young children.  After his divorce in 2008, he admits to a dark time of too much drinking.  His kids are now 10 and 14 years old, and Collins says he has not had a drink in three years.

On November 6, Collins will kick off a reissue campaign with the release of remastered deluxe versions of Face Value (1981) and Both Sides (1993). The reissues series, titled “Take a Look at Me Now,” will see all eight of Collins’ solo albums re-released over a period of several months.
