Queen’s Greatest Hits album, released in 1981, has been revealed as the UK’s biggest selling album of all time, according to OfficialCharts.com.
With 6.1 Million copies sold, Greatest Hits is the first and only album ever to surpass sales of 6M in the UK. It has sold almost a million more units than the #2 album on the list – Abba’s Gold: Greatest Hits.
The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band comes in at number 3, and Queen rounds out the top ten with Greatest Hits II.
The “60 at 60” chart was published to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Official Albums Chart, compiled weekly by the Official Charts Company based on sales.
