Despite reports from UK paper, the Mirror, a spokesperson for Sir Richard Branson claims the band was never offered a contract worth $800 M (US) for a reunion tour, Forbes reports. At least, not by Branson.
“There is no truth to the story that Richard Branson offered members of Led Zeppelin £500m to reform and carry out a tour, nor had Richard been in discussion with the band about any such tour,” a Virgin rep told Forbes.
According to the Mirror’s source, Robert Plant, who would have received nearly $300M for the tour, had ripped up the contract in protest.
By Thursday, when both Branson and Plant had denied the claims, the Mirror had taken down their original article.
