The Foo Fighters are full of surprises on their current tour, and Tuesday night was no exception. While Dave Grohl has always steered clear of the Nirvana catalog (with the exception of “Marigold” – a Nirvana song he wrote and sang), they made an exception at their show in Edinburgh, Scotland Tuesday night.
One of Nirvana’s live staples was “Molly’s Lips,” a cover of the song by the legendary punk band the Vaselines. Since Foo Fighters were performing in the band’s hometown on Tuesday, Grohl made an exception to his Nirvana aversion and the Foo Fighters offered up a quick little cover of the song, for the first time ever.

The Foo Fighters have performed a number of covers on their current tour including Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl” (Toronto show), and Queen’s “Under Pressure,” along with John Paul Jones and Roger Taylor.
