ZZ Top will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a U.S. tour this summer. Cheap Trick and Southern rock stalwarts Lynyrd Skynyrd will join the tour for select dates.
The extensive 34-show run kicks off August 16th in Ridgefield, WA and wraps up October 20th in West Palm Beach, FL. The tour will stop in 19 different states as it makes its way across the country. See below for a full list of dates.
In the meantime, the band will kick off their anniversary celebrations as they tour Europe and the UK in June and July.
ZZ Top is notable for having the most consistently stable lineup in the history of rock music. Billy Gibbons formed the band with drummer Frank Beard and bass-guitarist Dusty Hill in 1969. 15 studio albums, 30 million record sales and five decades later, “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” is still going strong, playing timeless hits like “La Grange,” “Legs,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Tush”.
“It’s been five decades, and I think we’re starting to get pretty good at all this!” said Billy Gibbons in a statement. “We’re truly excited to be appearing across the continent this summer and fall, playing our bluesy kind of rock like we started in ’69. The beards, Frank’s excepted, are perhaps a bit longer, yet nothing else has changed. We’re keeping it that way.”
Tickets for the newly announced dates go on sale starting Friday, April 12th.
Last year, Billy Gibbons released his solo album Big Bad Blues. Watch the lyric video for “Missin Yo’ Kissin'” here.
