Carrie Fisher, best known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, died Tuesday at the age of 60.
On Friday, Fisher suffered a heart attack during a flight from London to Los Angeles. A passenger performed CPR until paramedics arrived, after which Fisher was transported to Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center and admitted to ICU.
Fisher’s death was confirmed in a statement from publicist Simon Halls.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly.”
