David Bowie Musical to Debut Off Broadway

david-bowie-heroes-photoA stage musical, co-written by David Bowie with Enda Walsh (“Once”), will debut off Broadway in the 2015-2016 season, it has been announced.

Titled Lazarus, the work was inspired by The Man Who Fell to Earth – the 1963 novel that became a sci-fi movie cult hit starring David Bowie in 1976.

Bowie will not be reprising his role as Thomas Jerome Newton, but the musical will feature some new original songs by Bowie as well as new arrangements of the music from the film.

Bowie’s last involvement with New York theater was in 1980, when he received rave reviews for his portrayal of John Merrick in The Elephant Man on Broadway.
