A set of newly discovered photos of John Lennon will go up for auction next year.

The collection of 26 negatives, taken in February 1970, were recently found in a “junk drawer” by the owner, who had presumed them to have no value. The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, took the collection to a valuation day at The Beatles Story in Liverpool last month.

Auctioneer Darren Julien of Julien’s Auctions called the collection a “rare find’ and valued them around $13,000 US.

At the time the photos were taken, the Beatles were breaking up and John Lennon had recently released his third solo single.

The collection of photos will be auctioned off during an auction taking place at The Beatles Story in October 2018. In the meantime, the negatives will be on temporary display at The Beatles Story for public viewing.
