Sir George Martin, the legendary producer who collaborated with the Beatles on their greatest works has died at the age of 90.
Martin, known as the “Fifth Beatle”, passed in his sleep on Tuesday evening. The news was announced by Ringo Starr via Twitter.
“God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara George will be missed,” read the Tweet.
Paul McCartney posted a tribute to Martin on Facebook, saying Martin was like a second father to him.
Sir George Martin was born January 3, 1926. His career in music, film, television and media spanned more than six decades. He had 30 #1 hit singles in the UK and 23 in the US.
