After 41 years together, over 65 million albums sold, 7 Grammy nominations, and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2013, Rush is calling it quits.

Guitarist Alex Lifeson recently revealed in The Globe and Mail, “We have no plans to tour or record any more. We’re basically done. After 41 years, we felt it was enough.”

Rumors of Rush disbanding have been swirling for two years. The band last toured in 2015 when they hit the road for R40, the lineup’s 40th anniversary tour. At that time, Lifeson revealed it might be the group’s last large-scale tour.

Drummer Neal Peart said in a 2015 interview that he was retiring, although Geddy Lee claimed the following day that Peart’s comments were simply taken out of context.

No official band announcement has been made, so there’s always hope. On the other hand, you can never rule out a reunion.
