Paul Revere, frontman for the 1960s’ band Paul Revere & The Raiders, has died at the age of 76.

Revere, born Paul Revere Dick, died Saturday at his home in Garden Valley, ID after battling cancer.

The band achieved commercial success in 1963 when they covered “Louie, Louie” and made their own hits with “Kicks,” “Hungry,” and “Indian Reservation.” They went on to become the house band for “Where The Action Is,” a variety show that was created by Dick Clark.

Revere remained the frontman of the band for 50 years and continued touring until earlier in 2014 when he became to ill to continue. He retired with his wife Sydney and spent his final months in Idaho.

In 2000, Revere described his band’s career in an interview with the Associated Press, saying, “From Day 1, we’ve always been a party band that accidentally had some hit records and accidentally got on a television series.”
