Have you ever wondered what David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” would sound like if it used only the 1,000 most commonly used words in the English language? Neither have we. But apparently it’s worth finding out.

A new cover of the song pays tribute to the original music video, but the lyrics for this version use only the 1,000 most common words in the English language. Which makes it, well… a little odd.

And while it wasn’t filmed in space, like Chris Hadfield’s version, it’s still pretty good.

The video was created by Molly Lewis, Marian Call, Seth Boyer and Patrick Race and, according to the YouTube video’s description, was inspired by Flight of the Conchords, Michael Gondry, and the Up-Goer Five diagram by Randall Munroe. Check it out below.
