Foo Fighters Release Surprise EP, Honor Victims of Paris Attacks

foo-fighters-saint-ceciliaThe mysterious countdown that the Foo Fighters started on their website last month finally came to a close Sunday night, revealing the release of a free, 5-song EP the band is offering to fans.

Saint Cecilia was recorded during the Austin City Limits festival at the Saint Cecilia Hotel in Austin, TX. As Grohl explains in a letter posted to the band’s website, the EP was originally intended to be a free gift for fans as a “celebration of life and music.” However, in light of the tragedies that took place on November 13th, Grohl says the project has taken on “an entirely different tone.”

“To all who were affected by the atrocities in Paris, loved ones and friends, our hearts go out to you and your families. We will return and celebrate life and love with you once again someday with our music. As it should be done,” reads Grohl’s letter.

A link to donate to the victims of the Paris attacks has also been posted on the band’s website.

Saint Cecilia is available for free on iTunes or foofighters.com, and for streaming on Apple Music and Spotify. A vinyl version is also available for purchase at foofighters.com.
