Ann Wilson, the powerhouse voice of iconic rock band Heart is preparing for her first-ever solo television special. Wilson announced that her recently added April 11th show at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, IL will be filmed for an upcoming special that is set to coincide with the release of her new solo album Immortal.
Immortal, which had the working title Songs for the Living: Vol. 1, is due out this summer through BMG with the exact release date TBA.
For the special, Wilson has revealed that she and her band will be performing songs from Heart’s catalogue and her solo career as well as highlights from the new album. The air-date, time and additional details of the special have not yet been announced.
Though the complete track list for Immortal hasn’t been revealed, the singer has shared some information the album. Immortal will feature a collection songs by her some of favorite musicians who have passed away in recent years. The first three tracks confirmed to be on the album are Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me,” Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” and the Eagles’ “Life in the Fast Lane” in honor of Glen Frey.
“It’s a project very dear to me – a collection of songs by artists who have departed in the last several years including Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Chris Cornell and Amy Winehouse to name a few,” Wilson explained in a press release. “I feel these souls have made a real lasting contribution to the art of the popular song and to honor them is my deepest pleasure.”
For the album she has teamed up with original Heart producer Mick Flicker (Dreamboat Annie, Magazine and Little Queen among others).
Wilson will be performing a number of solo shows this spring and will then be joining Jeff Beck and Paul Rodgers for the “Stars Align Tour” around the time that the album will be released. Kicking off July 18th in West Valley City, UT, the tour stops in 20 cities across the U.S. and Canada including Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, Toronto and Nashville, before wrapping up August 26th in Tampa, FL.
