The Rolling Stones Release New Vinyl Single Under “The Cockroaches” Alias

The Cockroaches

On Saturday, April 11th, The Rolling Stones, under the alias “The Cockroaches,” released a “white label” pressing of the first single off their new album, Foreign Tongues. Titled “Rough and Twisted,” it was made available at select indie retailers across the U.S.

You can hear a teaser clip of the song in the Instagram post linked below.

The single will be officially released in May, and there’s talk of them staging “listening events” for the album before it’s released in June.

In the late ’70s and ‘early ’80s, the Stones, billed as either The Cockroaches or Blue Sunday and The Cockroaches, did surprise shows in Toronto (1977), Atlanta (1978) and Worcester, Massachusetts (1981).

The Rolling Stones were set to tour Europe this year but scrapped those plans when it was reported that “Keith Richards didn’t think he could commit and wasn’t keen on a big stadium tour for over four months.”

The Stones last performed in their native England in 2022, and their last show was on July 21st, 2024 in Ridgedale, Missouri.
