Beach Boys Break Up Again; 3 Original Members Sacked

Mike Love has announced via public statement that The Beach Boys will split up (again) after completing concerts in the UK this week. According to the Huffington Post, Brian Wilson, David Marks and Al Jardine are being let go by Love, who owns the rights to the Beach Boys name, however the three original members were not made aware prior to the release of the public statement.

“The post-50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks. The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band,” reads the statement.

Wilson, Marks and Jardine will be replace by the group’s longtime backing band, which includes Mike Love’s son Christian.

“I’m disappointed and can’t understand why he (Love) doesn’t want to tour with Al, David and me,” Brian Wilson told CNN. “We are out here having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys.”

Love has said that the decision to drop the three original members is financially motivated.
