Billy Joel will set a record on July 1st when he becomes the artist to have performed the most shows at New York’s Madison Square Gardens.

Elton John currently holds the record, having played the famous arena 64 times in his career.  When Joel performs his monthly residency show on July 1st, he will have performed at the venue 65 times.

Joel already holds for the most consecutive shows at the venue, which he originally set in 2006.
