Love and Mercy, the new film based on the life of the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, hits theaters today.
The biopic stars John Cusack and Paul Dano in the roles of the younger and older Wilson, respectively, as well as Elizabeth Banks as Wilson’s 2nd wife, Melinda, and Paul Giamatti as Wilson’s psychotherapist Dr. Eugene Landy.
Focusing on two periods in Wilson’s life, the 1960s and the 1980s, the film explores the “personal voyage and ultimate salvation” of the musical icon “whose success came at an extraordinary personal cost.”
The Hollywood reporter calls it “deeply satisfying” and says John Cusack gives “one of the best performances of his career.”
