David Bowie’s Blackstar album received five Grammy Awards Sunday night including Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Performance (“Blackstar”), Best Rock Song (“Blackstar”), Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best Recording Package.
With the exception of a Grammy lifetime achievement award in 2006 and an award for Best Video in 1985, these five posthumous awards mark the White Duke’s first Grammy Awards in musical categories.
Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, tweeted a tribute to his father post-show.
“So proud of you dad! Would hold you up forever,” read the Tweet, which was accompanied by a photo of Jones playlfully holding his father in his arms.
So proud of you dad!
Would hold you up forever.
