“She took a terrible hit,” David Crosby revealed about Joni Mitchell‘s health this week in a new interview with the Huffington Post.

“To my knowledge she is not speaking yet,” the Crosby, Stills and Nash singer answered when asked if he had spoken with Mitchell since her hospitalization in March.

Few details about Mitchell’s condition have been released over the last several months, although it was revealed in May that Mitchell had suffered an aneurysm. Crosby confirms the aneurysm in his interview, and also reveals that no one found Mitchell for a while. He also says her recovery will be a struggle.

“She’s a tough girl, and very smart,” Crosby said of his longtime friend. “I love her.” He goes on to call Mitchell the “greatest living singer-songwriter.”
