Elton John will perform at the Emmy Awards for the first time ever this year, to honor singer and pianist Liberace. John’s performance will accompany appearances by presenters Michael Douglas and Matt Damon – both of whom are nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for their roles in the HBO Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra.

The film, directed by Stephen Soderbergh, is nominated for 15 Emmy Awards.
The Emmy Awards will take place Sunday, September 22nd and be broadcast live on CBS.
The Diving Board, Elton John’s first studio album in seven years, will be released on September 24th.
