Elton John and Mumford & Sons will pay tribute to the late Levon Helm at this year’s GRAMMY Awards. T Bone Burnett, Mavis Staples, Zac Brown and Brittany Howard (Alabama Shakes) will also perform “The Weight.”
Levon Helm was the drummer and singer for The Band. He died last year at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer.
“Generationally it’s very mixed, and genre-wise it’s certainly mixed, and … that’s what (Helm) was all about,” said Ken Ehrlich, producer of the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards. “He was about old and young, country and pop. He was this incredibly eclectic artist.”
The GRAMMYS air February 10th at 8/7c on CBS.
