Genesis will reunite and tour the UK and Ireland in 2020. The announcement was made by members Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford on BBC Radio 2 on Wednesday. The comeback marks the group’s first tour in 13 years.
Founding member Peter Gabriel will not participate in the reunion. Instead, Collins, Banks and Rutherford will be joined by Collins’ 18-year-old son Nicholas on drums and session musician Daryl Stuermer on bass.
Phil Collins has battled a number of health issues in recent years including nerve damage in his hands which restricts his ability to play drums.
“I’ll be doing my best to play some bits on the tour,” he told BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball. Collins will still serve as the band’s lead singer for the upcoming tour.
While the band has not revealed a setlist for the tour, Collins said “There are songs you feel you have to play because the audience would feel cheated if you didn’t.”
Genesis last performed together in 2007 for their 40th-anniversary tour.
Tickets for the 2020 dates go on sale Friday, March 6th.
