Courtney Love has told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that she hopes to see the new Kurt Cobain biopic start production within the next year.
The Nirvana front man’s widow is overseeing the creation of the film along with their daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, and Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic.
Although the role of Cobain has not yet been cast, Love says she has been reviewing actors’ demo reels, which were sent to her by CAA – Creative Artists Agency.
“That was really tough because these boys are so pretty, so cute. I won’t name names because I don’t want to jinx it for anyone but these are 25-year-olds who are blond, gorgeous and the new Brad Pitts. There’s a ton of those. Some are really good actors, not just pretty faces. I don’t wan tto be the person who makes that decision. Let’s leave that to the agents; I have great agents now. But I will have a say in it.”
This past April was the 20 year anniversary of Cobain’s death. In light of the anniversary, Seattle Police had a cold-case detective review the details of the case and released a number of never-before-seen photographs from the scene. A photograph of a note found in Cobain’s wallet which mocked his wedding vows to Courtney Love was also released. Although conspiracy theorists believed it was an indication the case was being re-opened, the conclusion of the review was that Cobain’s death was, in fact, a suicide, as had been concluded 20 years ago.
