Leonard Nimoy, best known as Spock from the classic sci-fi TV show, Star Trek, died Friday at the age 83.
In addition to his widespread success as an actor, Nimoy was an accomplished director, a writer and poet, and a photographer. He also tried his hand at singing and songwriting, releasing five albums on Dot Records. During that time, he covered songs like Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” and the Pete Seeger/Lee Hays song “If I Had a Hammer,” made famous by Peter, Paul & Mary.
Nimoy was suffering from end-stage chronic obtrusive pulmonary disease at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Susan, his two children and his stepson, and several grandchildren.
