McCartney and Lennon’s ‘Help! Piano Going Up for Auction

beatles-HelpUSalbumcoverThe piano used by Paul McCartney and John Lennon during the filming of the 1965 Beatles film Help! is going up for auction, the BBC reports.  The 1907 Bechstein Concert Grand piano was used by the songwriting duo when they wrote the title track for the film, and according to the current owner, was also used by McCartney when he wrote the Beatles hit “Yesterday.”

The piano is currently owned by film director Richard Lester. It will go on the auction block on March 20th in Liverpool and has been valued by Omega Auctions at £50,000 ($83,640 USD).

Last month, Omega Auctions announced that the jackets worn by George Harrison and Ringo Starr during Help! will also be going up for auction. They are part of the same collection owned by Lester.
