Neil Young is teaming up with his legendary band Crazy Horse for two shows next week – May 1st & 2nd at Warnors Theatre in Fresno, CA.
This will be the first time that Young and Crazy Horse have performed together since a concert four years ago in Iceland. But according to the succinctly worded announcement on Young’s website, they won’t be rehearsing for the shows in spite of their long hiatus.
“Fresno. May 1 and 2. First time in a long time, live on stage. No rehearsal,” read the statement.
However, this concert may not be as off-the-cuff as it initially seems. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Young shared that he and Crazy Horse have “an incredible album in the can that’s a recent album. Alchemy.” Whether or not they plan on debuting the new material next week is anyone’s guess.
One time band member (and frequent collaborator with Young), Nils Lofgren of the E Street Band has been confirmed as a guest for the show. “The great news is I am jumping back in with #CrazyHorse @Neilyoung I will be there . Beyond honored. Nothing like playing with old friends,” Lofgren mused on Twitter. “A friend just reminded me, at this age you can’t coast.”
