Olivia Harrison on Her Late Husband’s Sense of Humor, Lyrical Poetry and How He Surprised Ringo Starr

In a new interview with Billboard, Olivia Harrison opens up about her late husband and talks about putting together the newly expanded edition of ‘I Me Mine‘ – George Harrison’s memoir which, in its newly extended version, spans the complete length of Harrison’s career and features lyrics to more than 50 songs not previously included.

In the interview, Olivia reveals how and where she found the lyrics for the book, including, surprisingly, in Billy Preston’s piano bench.

Another surprise in the process of putting together the new edition was the discovery of  the song “Hey Ringo,” a tune Harrison wrote for his good friend Ringo Starr but that Starr had ever seen or heard.

“That was a big revelation and surprise,” Harrison told Billboard. “Ringo was totally surprise and really happy. What a gift to have all these years later.”

Through the interview it’s easy to sense Harrison’s deep love and respect for her late husband.  The time, thought and care that went into the the newly expanded memoir is undeniable.  Read the full interview here.

The re-release of I Me Mine coincides with the release of George Harrison – The Vinyl Collection,  a vinyl box set that includes all twelve of George’s studio albums with exact replicas of the original release track listing and artwork, as well as George’s classic live album Live in Japan and two 12″ single picture discs of ‘When We Was Fab’ and ‘Got My Mind Set On You.’
