Original Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Bob Burns died Friday in a single-vehicle crash in Georgia. Burns’ vehicle went off the road around 11:56 pm April 3rd, striking a mailbox and a tree. According to a Georgia State Patrol spokesperson, Burns was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Robert Burns was born on November 24, 1950 in Jacksonville, FL and co-founded Lynyrd Skynyrd as a teenager. He left the band in 1974, but sat in with them during their 2006 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Burns was 64.
